Weber State will enter the 2018-19 season with new coaching staff and a lot of new players.
In the past, the Beavers have relied on the services of the former assistant coach, and the two will likely work together.
Coach Chris Beard has been with the program since 2008, and will be returning for his second season.
Beard also has experience coaching at Boise State.
With both coaching staffs returning, the team is looking to add a more traditional big man.
Former Utah Jazz big man, Jerami Grant, has been recruited by Weber State since his senior year, and is considered one of the top players in the class of 2019.
He was ranked the No. 1 player in the nation by 247 Sports.
He is projected to be one of five players who could play in the 2019 NCAA tournament.
Grant is also expected to sign a four-year deal, with a player option for the 2020-21 season.
Weber State also has several players who can play in this year’s NCAA tournament, with the most likely to come from Utah, Arizona, Arizona State, Arizona and California.
Former Weber State guard, Zach McBride, is expected to join the Beazos roster after his junior season, but has yet to sign an official offer.
Other players expected to leave for the Beaver Nation include center Jordan Smith, forward De’Shawn Woods, guard Ryan Krumm, guard Chris Lamm and forward Josh Purdy.
All three will be free agents in the summer of 2020.
Weber state will be looking to replace all three of those players.
